Busy in Basketball

Our boys Basketball vs. Hansen

Middle School vs. Dietrich

I was informed last week that I failed to put the score in the blogs and let you all know whether we won or loss. That was NOT an oversight, I strongly feel in watching our student athletes the victories are not all reflected on the scoreboard. We have some great kids playing ball and a lot of great kids there to support them. I feel that if you want to know the statistical outcome of the game you can go to http://www.magicvalley.com/ and read The Times News. This blog is purely to let you all know what our kids are doing both athletically and academically. As far as I am concerned any involvement is a victory.

Devil Boys vs. LHC

JV Team
Varsity Captains

Varsity Warm ups

Red Devils

JV Warming up

Our Red Devil Boys Basketball team had their first game on 12/1 at the Jerome Middle School against the Lighthouse Lions. It was a great game to watch. The JV boys started out with such great speed, they looked great and it was exciting to see so many freshman doing so well. The varsity boys had a wonderful game and seemed to mesh together very well. The best thing about it was that our boys showed great sportsmanship and played till the very end. Coach Johnson and Coach Cummins have prepared them well.

Red/White game

A huge thank you to all who helped and attended the Red & White night. The whole evening was a huge success and so much fun! I on the other hand never go anywhere without my camera and forgot it that night. I am hoping to beg Mrs. Nuthak for some from the yearbook camera. The first 100 adults and high school students in got a free MURTAUGH SUPER FAN shirt, they were a huge hit and it was so fun. The girls basketball team, Coach Wadsworth, Coach Winn shared some of there new plays on both offense and defense. The boys, led by Coach Johnson and Coach Cummins after a rousing intro deserving of a NBA team played a scrimmage, it was fun to watch them play. After the games we had a hugely successful auction benefitting both teams. Thanks again for the Community support.

Family Reading Night

Due to the success of our Family Reading Night's we have moved from having them in the library to the gym. It was great having some more room and the kids had a blast running around. I think the parents enjoyed visiting too, they seemed to stay a little longer this time. As always a big thanks to Mrs. Capps and Mrs. Cutler! They do an amazing job!

FFA Competition

I can't possibly tell you how excited Mr. Win was by the results of the recent FFA Competitions. Our greenhand team made of of 8th grades took 4th place, which is awesome anyway but especially since they were competing against High Schoolers. Brice Wojcik took 3rd Place overall in Creed speaking which is aboslutely awesome. Our Opening Ceremonies team which also had a few 8th graders took 5th. We are so proud of our FFA participants. Thanks for your enthusiasm and hard work.

Morp 2008

The Jr Class, with Mrs. Nuthak as their guide held a Morp Dance on Saturday Nov. 8th. Ron & I were asked to chaperone and we did have a good time. I cannot stress enough what great kids we have here. There were about 46 kids there and we didn't have any trouble. Makenzie & hecotr dressed up like Mimes and won the best costume award. It was well deserved. Forrest dj'd the dance and even got some of the kids who hated dancing(namely most of the boys) to join in. Although I have to say Trey can dance.

Middle School Athletic Banquet

A Huge Thank you to Coach Jennifer Crystal & Coach Forrest Andersen for all the time they put in for our Middle School volleyball and Football teams. The kids all had a great them playing and we as parents sure had a great time watching them participate!
